Essay Coaching

Lee has a bachelor's degree in the humanities from New York University, where he graduated Summa Cum Laude and completed the undergraduate writing program with academic distinction. He has worked as a freelancer in writing, editing, and related creative fields for more than ten years, and has six years of experience as a writing coach. He has a long track record of success working with all kinds of students, whose aspirations have run the gamut from top-ranked, highly selective universities to niche programs at small local institutions.
Lee is distinctly passionate about working with high-school-aged students and high-school-level writing. He believes that students at this stage of their lives are inherently inclined toward engaging with the forces that underpin all great writing: self-discovery, curiosity, open-mindedness, and a shifting, developing understanding of the world around them. Lee wants to help every student deepen their relationship with writing as a medium for engaging with these critical dynamics, and he has seen time and again how doing so results in the most authentic, compelling, and distinguishing essays each student has to offer.
Beyond his work with students, Lee enjoys reading, hiking, baseball, chess, and creative writing. He can often be found exploring new hiking trails in upstate New York with his dog, a lab/hound mix with boundless energy and an insatiable love for the woods.
