Julian Castronovo is a filmmaker, writer, and educator living in Los Angeles. His films have been exhibited by institutions including the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) and the International Film Festival Rotterdam, and his writing has appeared in publications like The Paris Review and BOMB. In 2024, he was named one of the “25 New Faces of Independent Film” by Filmmaker Magazine. He holds an MFA in Film Directing from the California Institute of the Arts, and BAs from Brown University’s programs in Literary Arts and Modern Culture & Media.
Julian has worked as an essay coach for six years, and his approach to mentorship is rooted in exploration, adaptability, and trust. His students have gone on to attend top-tier schools including Harvard, Yale, and Brown.
When he’s not working, Julian enjoys playing the piano and hanging out with his dog, Larry.
