Elvira is a computer scientist and educator passionate about making technology exciting and accessible for everyone. With a Ph.D. in Computer Science and experience as both a professor and a researcher, she has spent over seven years teaching courses that range from beginner programming to advanced topics such as operating systems, computer architecture, and parallel programming. Before stepping into academia full-time, Elvira worked as a Research Scientist at Intel Labs, where she contributed to projects in memory systems and processor design. She loves bringing that real-world expertise into the classroom.
Her mentorship style is rooted in curiosity, creativity, and connection. Elvira believes every student learns differently, so she focuses on making abstract concepts hands-on and approachable. Whether she’s drawing out algorithms, building interactive games to teach complex topics, or using real-world analogies, she strives to create an environment where students feel confident exploring new ideas. Her goal is to help them see themselves not just as learners but as future engineers, innovators, and problem-solvers.
Outside the classroom, Elvira loves spending time with her family, crafting, and bowling. She is equally happy working on high-tech research projects as she is creating DIY projects around the house. Based in Texas, she is always looking for ways to connect with learners from all over the world because, for her, teaching isn’t just a job—it’s a lifelong adventure.
