The son of two teachers, Zachary has education in his blood. He first applied that genetic predisposition to his own learning, graduating summa cum laude with a B.S. in Psychology, with an emphasis in cognitive neuroscience, where, in an effort to escape the frigid temperatures of the Midwest, he spent a great deal of his collegiate career indoors, conducting research on the visual system in a cognitive neuroscience lab (with another year tucked away studying evolutionary biology). He’s been helping students navigate all stages of the college admissions and standardized testing process (SAT, ACT, GRE) for over a decade and has helped hundreds of students achieve their academic goals and 99th percentile test scores.
Pairing that wealth of tutoring experience with a passion for teaching, he employs anecdotes, analogies, and alliterations (case in point) to ensure students are building up foundational skills while also learning to masterfully speak the language of standardized tests. Fundamentally, a student’s goals are Zachary’s goals: whether that’s simply getting a bit more comfortable with the test or aiming for top universities. While not every student can have two educators for parents, Zachary believes each young mind deserves to have one in their corner, challenging and championing them every step of the way.
When he’s not poring over student’s practice results, shepherding them through sessions, crafting individualized homework plans, or slaving over session notes, Zachary can often be found at the movie theater or catching a Minnesota Timberwolves game (a signal of his persistence given their long beleaguered stature).
