College Counseling
Molly Gully is a higher education leader turned college coach, bringing two decades of experience in college admissions, academic advising, and career development. Her extensive background includes senior roles at The University of Texas at Austin, where she supported students across multiple colleges, including the McCombs School of Business, the Vick Center for Strategic Advising and Career Counseling, and the Cockrell School of Engineering.
Molly has led major student success efforts, from improving graduation rates at public universities to redesigning the Texas college application system to be more student-friendly. As a Senior Director at the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board, she launched the state’s first Direct Admissions program—giving her a unique, behind-the-scenes perspective on how college admissions really work. Families appreciate her ability to translate complex systems into clear, actionable guidance.
At College MatchPoint, Molly is known for helping students find direction and confidence in the college process. She guides them through key decisions—from choosing a major to building a college list—with warmth, structure, and strategy. Her counseling style is holistic and thoughtful, taking into account each student’s personality, goals, and support system to make the journey feel less overwhelming and more empowering.
Molly is especially skilled at helping students connect the dots between who they are and what they want to do with their lives. She blends data, intuition, and deep listening to guide students toward majors and careers that align with their values, interests, and strengths. Her approach goes beyond checklists—she helps students reflect on what motivates them, what environments they thrive in, and how their story fits into a bigger picture. Known for her calm, encouraging presence, Molly creates a sense of stability and trust that allows students to feel grounded and confident as they make some of the biggest and most personal decisions of their teenage years.
Molly earned both her Master of Counseling and her BA in Humanities from Arizona State University. She spent her teen years in Singapore, an experience that sparked her love of travel, cross-cultural connection, and lifelong learning—traits she brings into every coaching conversation. At home in Austin, she enjoys reading, long walks with her goldendoodle, and spending time with her husband and teenage daughter.
