Essay Coaching

Daisy is a writer, director, public speaker, and educator. She has taught at Central Synagogue, New York City's largest Jewish congregation, where she works closely with students to help them engage thoughtfully and meaningfully with their identities as young Jewish people in today's world. Daisy has also been invited to speak at Duke University and Grinnell College, where she shares her perspective as a multi-organ transplant recipient, offering insight on resilience, identity, and navigating complex personal narratives. She graduated cum laude from Barnard College with a degree in Film Studies.

As a writer and director, Daisy's work has been recognized on an international stage. Her most recent short film screened at both the Sundance Film Festival and the South by Southwest Film Festival. She is the recipient of multiple awards, including the NewFest Emerging Filmmaker Award and an Outfest Grand Jury Special Mention. Her work has been supported by leading institutions such as the Colin Higgins Foundation, the New York Film Festival, the Sundance Institute, Netflix, the 1 in 4 Coalition, and the Untitled Filmmakers Organization. Her storytelling has also been featured in major publications, including Deadline, Variety, and Out Magazine. Earlier in her career, she received both a National Scholastic Writing Award and an American Voices Award for her poetry. Across mediums, Daisy's work consistently centers on underrepresented communities, shaping her into an empathetic, precise, and deeply intentional storyteller.

Her approach to mentorship is rooted in the belief that the strongest essays come from clarity, specificity, and emotional honesty. She works closely with students to help them uncover the stories that only they can tell, guiding them through a process that is both rigorous and deeply collaborative. Rather than imposing a formula, she prioritizes helping each student develop their own voice, pushing them to think critically, write boldly, and refine their ideas with precision. As someone who has spent years writing personal and narrative-driven work, Daisy understands how vulnerable this process can be, and she strives to create a supportive environment where students feel both challenged and genuinely heard.

When Daisy isn't coaching, she is likely spending time in coffee shops writing a new script and reading articles in the New Yorker.
