Allison is a writer, tutor, and college admissions consultant with a passion for helping her students achieve their creative and academic ambitions. While studying Writing Seminars and History at Johns Hopkins University, she completed internships at mentorship, arts, and workforce development nonprofits. After graduating, she continued to work in education, tutoring students in reading, writing, and the broader humanities, as well as assisting students with the college application process. Through essay advising and admissions counseling, her students have gained acceptance to many different top-20 universities and highly competitive pre-college programs.
After working with students with a great variety of interests, Allison has learned to tailor her coaching approach to each individual. She believes that every student has something unique to offer, and that there are broader writing lessons to be learned in preparing essays for the college application. She enjoys helping young people develop their own particular voice and aims to help each student identify their strengths and feel confidence in their abilities. Just as her favorite teachers encouraged her to proceed with her goals, she strives to make her students feel empowered and prepared for the future.
Originally from Indiana and now living in Brooklyn, New York, Allison enjoys painting, visiting museums, playing chess, and biking around the city. She also likes to spend rainy days making elaborate meals and baked goods. She writes fiction and is an avid reader across many different subjects.
