Christopher “C.J.” Johnson is one of ESM’s premier test prep mentors. Chris has been mentoring students since his freshman year of college, and his natural teaching ability has been honed over years of practice with students of all grade levels. After graduating from the University of San Francisco, Chris followed his instinct to work with young people, and went on to complete a Master of Education at Concordia University-Portland.
Chris’s favorite aspect of working with students is the mentorship aspect of the relationship. Being able to build strong relationships with students so they know they have support is extremely rewarding. Part of Chris’s success as a mentor is not only content knowledge based, but is also building a firm foundational relationship with a student. When a student knows they have the support and guidance of a trusted mentor, the academic piece comes naturally.
