Applications for the Equity Scholars Program require four components. Each component must be completed and submitted HERE. The application deadline is October 31st, 2023.
The four components are:
- The completed application form which includes short essay questions and an optional video cover letter.
- The optional video cover letter can be used to introduce yourself. It should be 2-5 minutes long and may consist of answers to questions such as:
- What are your goals following graduation?
- Which colleges interest you most and why?
- What is the biggest obstacle between you and your college ambitions?
- How would ESM's Equity Scholars Program help you achieve your goals?
- A copy of your current high school transcript (unofficial transcripts are sufficient).
- An unofficial academic transcript can be requested from your high school and must show freshman and sophomore year’s classes and grades.
- An interview with an ESM Prep mentor.
- All applicants are required to participate in an interview with an ESM mentor to be considered for the program. Applicants must email equity@esmprep.com to schedule their interview by the application deadline.
- Letters of recommendation.
- The first letter should be an academic recommendation and come from a teacher, counselor, or academic advisor.
- The optional second letter should be a personal recommendation and come from a community leader, family member, or supervisor.
- Only two letters of recommendation will be accepted for consideration - please do not submit more than two.
- Letters of recommendation should be typed and submitted as a .pdf or .docx file.
- Detailed instructions for recommenders can be found here. Please share this document with whomever is writing a letter of recommendation for you.
- Letters of recommendation should be submitted here. Please ensure that both letters of recommendation are submitted by the application deadline of October 31st by 11:59 PM PST.
