Sosan Madanat joins ESM with over ten years of experience as a dedicated advocate in state policy and legislation. Driven by her passion for service and community, Sosan most recently worked as a lobbyist at Lighthouse Public Affairs in Sacramento, effectively advocating for changes to state law to increase access to education and improve social and economic equity.

Prior to her role with Lighthouse, Sosan served as Executive Director for the Foundation for Democracy and Justice, a joint venture of the California Chamber of Commerce and State Supreme Court. The Foundation, a civic education nonprofit, partnered with community organizations and state and local leaders to improve public understanding of California’s state government.

Immediately after graduating from McGeorge School of Law, Sosan joined her alma mater's admissions office, traveling throughout the country to share her law school experience with prospective students and offering them insight into the complex and exciting world of the legal profession. During that time, Sosan also successfully led the Law and Public Policy Academy mentorship program at a local Sacramento high school for two years, pairing students with legal and state capitol professionals to guide them in their educational journeys.

Sosan is a member of the McGeorge Alumni Board of Directors, and the McGeorge Capital Advisory Committee, which matches students with potential job opportunities in the capital community. She also serves as an alumni mentor for current law students, supporting them throughout their legal careers.

Sosan earned her Juris Doctor, with a concentration in Capital Law and Policy from McGeorge School of Law and her Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy with a minor in Language Studies from the University of California, Santa Cruz. Sosan loves to bake, travel, make greeting cards, and is a semi-professional apple bobber.
