Komal has over six years of experience teaching biology, chemistry, physics, algebra, geometry and Spanish to high school and college level students. She’s worked with a diverse student body, ranging from elementary through high school students. Komal specializes in SAT Subject and AP exams for Biology and Chemistry along with HSPT, ISEE, and SSAT exams. Her teaching philosophy is built on the belief that one-on-one learning allows a student to deeply explore their interests and use their strengths to master weaknesses.

She values all subjects equally and believes that a good foundation in general education is imperative in producing diverse and unique ideas in any particular discipline. One-on-one learning promotes this curiosity in each subject and guides the discussion which is customized to the student's needs. Additionally, Komal believes that students are most likely to remain enthusiastic and interested in any particular topic if they connect it to their own unique interests.

Komal was born in Lahore, Pakistan where she attended a British medium school and moved to the East Bay Area at the age of 11. She attended California State University, East Bay where she graduated with a B.S. in Biology with a focus in ecology and conservation biology. She also studied abroad in Spain for one year at University of Granada to master her Spanish language skills and explore a new culture. During her undergraduate coursework, Komal participated in numerous scientific and institutional research projects, two of which were conducted at the Pacific Northwest National Laboratory’s Hanford site in Eastern Washington.

Throughout her four years as an undergraduate, she served as a mentor and tutor to other science majors by organizing weekly one-on-one meetings, workshops and cultural events. After graduation, she earned a Pre-health Professions certificate from San Francisco State University while working with high school and middle school students in the Palo Alto and Burlingame Area. She plans to continue her education by attending medical schools in the near future.

In her spare time, Komal loves to travel and learn new languages. She also loves to explore beaches and hiking grounds with friends.
