Academic Mentorship
Test Prep
After growing up in Florida, Jess attended Auburn University in Alabama, earning a Bachelor of Arts in French and a minor in German and Asian Studies. Jess spent three years at Auburn tutoring math and physics through the university’s peer tutoring program. They were also one of the founding tutors of a disability-focused mentoring program through Auburn’s Office of Accessibility.
Despite brief stints in other fields, Jess has been involved in education since they first started tutoring at the public library at the age of thirteen, including a year working in an elementary school through AmeriCorps. Although time in the classroom is fun and edifying, Jess particularly loves working with students one-on-one because of the opportunities it offers to tailor instruction to a student’s personal learning style and needs.
Jess lives in California with two cats, Kowalski and Captain Crunch. Outside of tutoring, Jess enjoys reading young adult novels, baking bread, writing poetry, and swing dancing.
