Patrick Frantz grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area, attending Menlo School where he graduated with highest honors. Throughout high school he worked with the Math Department mentoring middle school students. Patrick then studied Ethics, Politics and Economics at Yale University, where he tutored independently and participated in acapella singing groups such as the Yale Whiffenpoofs. Patrick wrote his thesis on the political legitimacy of government’s AI usage.
Since graduating Patrick has moved to Los Angeles where he mentors students with ESM Prep. He’s passionate about ideas simple and complex, and finds joy in helping students work towards deep, and functional, understandings of these ideas. He loves guiding students to the right answer, but is also driven by getting students excited to tackle the problem in the first place.
Outside of mentoring, Patrick writes and produces music for his independent pop artist project “pj frantz.” He has big dreams, but he stays grounded with his love for politics, current events and business. In his free time Patrick enjoys exploring the mountains and beaches of Los Angeles and hosts backyard folk-music jam sessions whenever possible.
